2 days in Kathmandu, Nepal

Nepal

Kathmandu surprises me. We felt safe walking in the streets by ourselves even at night. We stayed at Aloft Kathmandu hotel and I think it is a decent hotel. I like how it is one of the taller hotels in Kathmandu so you can sort of see the view of the city from your room. The location is pretty good too, considering it is located at Thamel Street. Nepalese are generally nice people so far. Kathmandu is such a vibrant city. It is mainly known for its temples.

Swoyambhu

Feeding the birds at Swoyambhu were surprisingly fun, especially when they starts flapping their wings around you. Thankfully none of us got shit on.

Monkey Temple

The monkeys are surprisingly nice. They are very unbothered by human.

Patan Durbar Square

Patan Durbar Square is situated at the centre of the city of Lalitpur in Nepal. It is one of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is also one of the location in Kathmandu where Dr Strange was filmed at. It was quite a bummer that we only got to see the outside of Durbar Square as we were fighting for time.

Godawari Botanical Garden

The size of the garden is about the same as Singapore botanical gardens. It’s a good place to for a walk or picnic.

Everest Mountain Flight

Definitely an activity you should not skip while in Kathmandu. It is also dependent on weather conditions. However if the view is bad or flight is cancelled, they will actually offer a full refund so you should definitely give it a chance considering that you will get to see the tallest mountain in the world! We were honestly surprised, since the weather has been so foggy. The visibility were really good above the clouds that day. The ticket cost around $300 for an hour of mountain flight.

Bhat Bhateni Super Store

One of the biggest supermarket in Kathmandu. It is a great place to look around and get some souvenirs back home such as Nepalese teas or snacks!

1 day in Nagarkot, Nepal

Nepal

Our time in Nagarkot/Bhaktapur was cut short due to flight delays. It wasn’t exactly fruitful either because the weather is just so foggy. As per our research, you should be able to see Mount Everest from Nagarkot on a clear day. Unfortunately we could not see any of the himalayans mountain while we were there. We had a quick walk to Bhaktapur and I love how unique the city is in bright red stones. We met a couple of friendly local kids as well whom tried to communicate with us, but we could not really understand them. They were so adorable! We enjoyed our stay at Club Himalaya resort. The buffet is probably the best out of the three hotels we stayed in Nepal. It is also very peaceful, away from the hustling city. I thought it would be cool to fly my drone at the resort but unfortunately it was not allowed as there is a base camp located behind the hotel.

3 days in Pokhara, Nepal

Nepal

You can’t visit Nepal without visiting Pokhara. It has the nicest views ever. We stayed at Pokhara Grande but it felt like an average hotel rather than a 5 stars hotel. The services are not bad, just that the hotel is a bit old. The view is pretty nice though, we were able to see the Annapurna mountains from our room (if it is a clear day otherwise the mountains will be covered in clouds). Driving to Pokhara to Kathmandu is really long, about an 8 hours journey since there is a lot of constructions. It was not exactly a smooth ride as we are driving along the windy and bumpy road. We actually decided to take the flight back to Kathmandu which takes about 30 minutes. The only downside about taking the flight is the weather conditions. Our flight was scheduled in the morning but it was really foggy so the flight was delayed for 5 hours. Definitely not great waiting at the airport and not knowing what is going to happen.

1. Sunrise at Sarangkot

30 minutes drive from our hotel

It is a must go to catch the sunrise. It is stunning! There is a short climb from the carpark, about 10 to 15 minutes away depending on your speed. Sarangkot is located at 1600m altitude high. We were able to see the Annapurna mountains. Mount Annapurna is the tenth highest mountain in the world at 8,091m.

2. Devi’s Fall

Devi’s fall is named after a Swiss lady whom drowned while swimming in the tunnel. The water actually came from Phewa Lake.

7. Hiking at Dhampus Village to Australian Base Camp

๐Ÿ“ Dhampus Village

The hike took us around 1 hour up. Longest one hour of my life, my legs were dying. The hike is worth it though, starting at 1060m high and ending at 2060m high.
